Have you ever been in just an unadulterated funk? I mean, so unmotivated that you can't get in a good workout to save your life. You can't get out the house on time to save your life. You can't seem to push out anything creative to SAVE.YOUR.LIFE. I was there during the month of January. I just couldn't get right. No matter how hard I tried. I couldn't just be bold, stand in all my creative, confident glory and DO. I know it was a mixture of several things; not having great communication with some of my friends and family, trying to please people, trying to be more than I needed to be. When that happens, I tend to lose steam in my actionable processes. I get in what I call #slackermode. Even my workouts suffer. And we don't want that happening! So with the end of last week and over this past weekend, I decided that I would #slacknomore. That's right. I don't want to be a victim of saying "2016 is gonna be MY year!", only for 2017 to get here and I say, "2017 is gonna be MY year!" because I didn't do what I was supposed to do this year.

I came up with three reasons/ways you can get bold and not ever get in #slackermode again.

  1. Get out of your feelings. I mean ALL the way out of your feelings. Newsflash: this life that you're living is not just for you. You are here to be of service to others. Whether you're working for yourself or someone else, you have an obligation to be bold, and be your best self so that you can SERVE OTHERS. And if you're not your best self, you can't possibly be your best self for anyone else. If you're all emo, chances are, you're expelling a lot of ill-used (therefore wasted) energy. Energy that could have been put into your workout or your work! So, stop being mad, stop being sad and disappointed, and use those feelings you have for fuel to propel you to your greatness.
  2. Remember your WHY. If you sat and thought about all the reasons you started your workout journey, your clean eating journey, your entrepreneur journey, there is a WHY there. You're doing _______ because __________. There's always a reason. And that reason is going to be bigger and more bold than you and me, and anyone or anything else you may think it's about. God did not put us on earth to see who could get the most likes, hearts, or high fives. He put us on earth to change other people's lives. It's our job to make sure that we're always coming back to our why. Why do you do what you do from day to day? Does it have purpose, or are you just going through the motions? Think about it?
  3. Keep pushing, and just JUMP. To be bold, you have to do some bold things. Sometimes, that means jumping when you don't know what's waiting for you at the bottom. You have to keep pushing through your failures, because the inevitable negative is out there. It's going to happen. But it's how we react that's going to show our true colors. Will you jump again and soar? Will you fail again? If you fail, will you then jump again? Being bold is truly more than just dreaming of your big goals, it's bringing those big goals to life and being actionable with them. When you're feeling your worst, you keep pushing through, knowing that at any moment, you're going to soar. You won't know what hit you! Because soaring comes at a moment's notice. All of a sudden, you're going to be in positions that you never thought you'd be in with opportunities you never thought you'd have. You're going to hit a weight loss goal that you hadn't even made yet.

But you have to jump. If and when you fail, LEARN from it. Will you be sad? Disappointed? Angry? Frustrated? Absolutely. Just get back up. Don't live in that spirit for long. Dust yourself off and try again (there you go, compliments of Ms. Aaliyah). Remember your why. You're not on this earth just for kicks and giggles and to be queen/king of social media. You want to bring value to the people that you meet in person and virtually. You can't get in your feelings, either. It's not about you anyway. So get over yourself. You are so super important, and you need to make sure that you're always working towards being your best self, but you're always going to be on this earth in a service capacity. Be nice to folks. Do what you can to help them and inspire them to be better. Being fit and healthy mentally and physically is not a fad. It's a way of life. You deserve to have a peaceful and joyful life, and a fit and healthy body that you can be proud of.
